At Seghesio Family Vineyards, the key word is family. Our family story starts in 1895, when an Italian immigrant and his new wife planted Zinfandel vines deep in Sonoma soil and set down roots that, five generations and 125 vintages later, are still growing strong.

Today, as we celebrate our 125th Anniversary, we believe in the importance of family more than ever – the one you’re born into and the one you create. The family with whom you celebrate and share life’s moments, big and small. Our celebrated, food-friendly wines have a timeless sensibility with elegance, balance, and purity crafted to carve out more moments for you to slow down, breathe, and savor life–family style.

We are best known for our Zinfandel wines. We are passionate about and dedicated to producing the highest-quality Zinfandel and we have a demonstrated legacy of Zinfandel leadership and stewardship. We maintain several blocks of truly old vine (minimum of 50+ years old) Zinfandel across our estate vineyards, including the original vines that our founders planted in 1895 at our Home Ranch vineyard in Alexander Valley. We also farm the 100+ year old vines at Montafi Vineyard that we purchased in 2014. Across all of our properties, Seghesio Family Vineyards encompasses more than 300 acres of estate-owned vineyards in premier sites across Sonoma County including in Alexander, Dry Creek, and Russian River valleys.

About The Mural Project

As we celebrate our 125th Anniversary, we are inviting artists from all of the country to submit designs for a commemorative mural that will be painted on one of the prominent front walls of our tasting room in Healdsburg, Sonoma County. Please note that if you have an existing design that you feel would be a good fit for our mural, we encourage you to submit!

We see nearly 20,000 visitors at our tasting room every year and we are hoping for a design that will inspire our visitors to photograph and share it as part of their experience visiting Sonoma and Seghesio Family Vineyards.

In addition to a grand prize of $4,500 for the winning design, Seghesio Family Vineyards will also provide travel and accommodations so that the winning artist can complete the execution of the design. Seghesio Family Vineyards will also be providing all materials including paint required for the completion of a design.

We are hoping that the mural honors all the people and places that have made Seghesio Family Vineyards who we are today and that celebrates the passions and beliefs that drive us today and that will sustain us for the next 125 years. For us that means all of the following:

Sonoma County
Sonoma County is where our heart is – it is our home and our community. Our roots go deep – literally in some cases – and we are proud to represent Sonoma County and its wine growing regions.

Zinfandel
We are leaders in making high-quality Zinfandel wines that are authentic to the variety and the vineyards of Sonoma County from which we source our grapes. We aim to make wines that are layered and delicious with an intensity and purity of fruit balanced by freshness and elegance. Zinfandel is not for the faint of heart. Producing quality Zinfandel is very labor-intensive and requires much of its tending be done by hand and with great care to control yields and ensure even ripening.

Family
Family is at the core of what drives us; it is the way we welcome you to our tasting room, it is the food and traditions we share, it is what motivates us to make great wines, it is not only looking back at what has shaped us, but also how we can look ahead to creating something lasting for future generations

Sustainability and Stewardship
We are stewards of some of the oldest vineyards in Northern America and we take that responsibility very seriously. Though we have been farming responsibly and sustainably for much longer, starting in 2019, all of our estate vineyards have been certified sustainable under the Sonoma County Wine Growers sustainability program.
